DentosphieAN INNOVATIVE DENTAL THERAPY
Dentosophie offers a definition of the healthy mouth in a state of balance that translates in a true philosophy of the relation between this balance and that of the whole person (*see bibliography). It is a therapy that, starting from this vision of a balanced mouth, incorporates numerous knowledge and research in the dental, medical and neurophysiologic fields and uses methods of functional rehabilitation to reach an important objective: the reorganisation of every patient’s mouth until reaching a perfect harmony of form and function. The approach is neuro-sensorial therefore the disrupted functions, swallowing, breathing and chewing are re-educated. As the therapy progresses the mouth retrieves its form in the three dimensions of space, that is: width, height and depth and left-right symmetry. It restores growth that was interrupted at a certain point in growth was discontinued. This is a very intense process, because it has implications on all levels of existence. In fact all our emotions pass through our mouth and are kept inside our teeth.
On the physical level an improvement of the oral-dental pathologies is obtained together with that of other pathologies on a somatic level, headache, backache, otitis, sleep disorders all related to the condition of the stomatognathic apparatus in one way or another. The relation existing between occlusal imbalance and various pathologies has been widely analysed and it has been noticed that when the mouth recovers its balance even healing is complete. On an emotional, psychological and psychoaffective level, the therapy is accompanied by important changes. We cannot think of modifying a patient’s obstruction without having an influence on its way of being be: dental alignment has, in itself, the ability to modify facial expression and.. the vision of the world. The therapy must reach the best occlusion possible with respect of the individual physiology
