Invisible orthodontics

ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

We have been defined as "Platinum doctor" since 2003, as we have been among the first practices for acquired clinical experience thanks to the numerous cases treated with this technique in Italy.

Orthodontics makes use of a new instrument to answer the patient’s aesthetic needs: "the invisible braces”.

Even if many adults between 20 and 50 years present dental malocclusions they are reluctant to start a conventional orthodontic treatment with fixed devicesas this would limit their relational life.

A few years ago an innovative technique was imported from The States, using aligners made with transparent polymers that align and straighten the teeth thus allowing maintaining ones lifestyle during the treatment.

In contrast to the fixed braces, invisible aligners do not have bands or metal wires that irritate the mouth. It is possible to maintain an optimal oral hygiene, reducing the formation of plaque, tooth decay and periodontal diseases.
Dental realignment also improves the dysfunctions of the mandibular joints thanks to comparing tests carried out on the force platform with kinesiographic recordings.

How does it work

After visiting the patient, the specialist takes the dental print with a high precision material, photographs and X-rays and develops a precise treatment plan.

It is all sent to The States, to the main office of the centre where this method was invented, in Santa Clara, California. Once they have received the material, the American technicians are able to draw- up the “clin-check” that is a simulation of a therapy and of the final result.

The orthodontist can show the patient all the displacements that are necessary in order to obtain a good dental alignment even before the beginning of the therapy.

The duration of the therapy varies from case to case and is in relation to the entity of the occlusion problems that have shown-up.
The mask aligners are applied on the teeth’s surface of both the arches and must be worn 20 hours a day removing them just to eat or brush the teeth. Each of these aligners is able to displace the teeth for 0.20mm. They must be replaced every 15 days in order to obtain the prefixed result.

For teenagers

Since March 2009 this technique has been used even by teenagers, Teenage, who are completing dental exchange.

Dental problems are widespread: 75% of children between 6 and 12 years and the 88% of teenagers between 12 and 17 years show a malocclusion (Grainger R.M.)
This means that it is an ingravescent problem which does not improve as time passes.

It is possible to direct the eruption of the dental elements, this is the real great innovation.
The collaboration of the young patient, not always continuous, can be monitored thanks to coloured indicators applied on the devices, that decolour progressively if worn correctly.
